Two partitas on Advent songs (man. and ped.)
The particular preference of the Wiesbaden composer Hans Uwe Hielscher for partitas and cycles of variations becomes very clear when playing and listening to these two works on Advent songs: he designs the individual movements with a wealth of colors and forms, which can also be used separately as preludes to congregational singing. Above all, there is the sound appeal typical of Hielscher, which effortlessly combines various international styles and never ceases to surprise listeners. The partita on “Es kommt ein Schiff, laden” also contains an onomatopoeic program that traces the approach, passing and disappearance of an imaginary ship and is concluded by a major coda that takes up the idea of resurrection in the final verse in delicate colors.
