Description
Triptych Organum op. 15 (Ped.)
The Cologne professor and organ virtuoso Thierry Mechler created this cycle as a commission from the Cartellverband of Catholic German student associations. The three movements are based on a text by Father Drutmar Cremer OSB (Maria Laach) on the association’s motto “In necessariis unitas – In dubiis libertas – In omnibus caritas” (“In what is necessary, let unity prevail, in case of doubt, let freedom prevail, but in everything, let love prevail”). Mechler composed a highly expressive cycle in free musical language, which has numerous formal and text-driven references, but which are placed entirely at the service of the atmospheric expression intended by the composer. The work requires a colorful, three-manual organ, preferably of French design.
