Description
Toccata and Fugue in D minor BWV 565 (Ped.) for organ and piano, piano part by Wilhelm Middelschulte
You have to come up with this idea first: to add a sophisticated piano part to the original of the famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor by Bach, which significantly increases the already existing sound power of the piece and leads to completely new, fascinating listening experiences for the audience. The German-American organ virtuoso and Bach enthusiast Wilhelm Middelschulte put this idea into practice in an impressive way in 1929, enriching the sparse repertoire for organ and piano with a spectacular work. The organist plays the original form of the organ piece he knows from “his” notes (or the version provided with articulations by Middelschulte) and is amazed at what the pianist has to add to it. The audience will definitely be amazed by the exquisite concert experience. It is surprising that this arrangement has remained unpublished until today. But now nothing stands in the way of a fascinating Bach listening experience.
