Description
…At a stroke this refreshed my jaded palate for organ music, after a long and fruitless period of truffle-hunting. I wanted to go on playing it over and over again (a rare feeling nowadays) and that only partly in order to get it right… juicy, neo-Vierne harmonies and exciting figuration, a truly beautiful clarinet melody with ravishing accompaniment in the quiet, slower middle section and a powerful final cadential passage. Every bar bespeaks superlative craftmanship, refined taste and not a little inspiration, while using entirely conventional and traditional means and without sacrifice of freshness or dignified popular appeal. There’s not a lot of it about….–from review by Michael Bell (in”Organists’ Review”)
