Description

With the beginning of the series of editions Masters of the North German Organ School, the aim was set to prepare the compositional result of a development of North German organ music (1600-1750) over a century and a half in its essential manifestations as completely as possible and to make it accessible to the public.
The 36th edition of Samuel Scheidt’s Görlitz Tablature concludes these efforts. The tablature book, which first appeared in print in 1650, was intended to provide organists with a repertoire of four-part accompaniments to over 100 titles, which they could play and sing at church services or at home, on the organ or other domestic keyboard instruments.
