Symphony in E major 1st & 2nd movements (Ped.) Edited and published by Erwin Horn
Hans Rott went down in music history as the “founder of the new symphony”. Anton Bruckner said of “his best student” that “we will still hear great things from him”. Unfortunately, the highly talented composer and organist died at the age of 26 – but his surviving oeuvre contains many brilliant features and has only been explored and appreciated in recent years. Similar in instrumentation to the symphonies of his teacher Bruckner, the first two movements of his E major symphony in particular are ideal for an organ transcription. This was undertaken by one of the best experts on the life and work of the two artists mentioned, Rott and Bruckner. Romantic organ symphonies – this transcription makes it tangible!
