Description

Pitsch, Karl Franz (1786–1858)  Six Pastoral Preludes op. 7 (Ped.) edited by Friedrich Hägele

The Silesian-Bohemian composer Karl Franz Pitsch was, among other things, director of the Prague Organ School as the successor to Robert Führer; the most famous student of the sought-after teacher was Antonín Dvořák. His six preludes are designed entirely in the South German-Bohemian pastoral style; they were widespread at the time but have been waiting to be rediscovered for many years. The 3-4 page long, early romantic-inspired pieces are easy to play and ideal for use in Christmas services, devotions and evening music.
