Description
Requiem, Op. 48, is Faure’s only large-scale sacred composition and without a doubt his most popular work in the genre. Immediately successful in his lifetime, its popularity is still as strong today, especially with smaller choirs. Here it is presented in the original version for soprano and baritone soli, choir, and organ, just in time for the Fauré commemorative year in 2024! In this edition, concert organist Kiyo Watanabe has thoroughly reviewed the original choir parts and has transcribed the orchestral parts for the organ, including suggested registrations for a rich and colourful presentation – all in clear and modern notation. An organ with three manuals and pedal is recommended but performance on a two-manual organ is possible.
