Libby Larsen (b. 24 December 1950, Wilmington, Delaware) is one of America’s most prolific and most performed living composers. Her catalogue of over 200 works spans virtually every genre from intimate vocal and chamber music to massive orchestral and choral scores. Her music has been praised for its dynamic, deeply inspired, and vigorous contemporary American spirit. Constantly sought after for commissions and premieres by major artists and orchestras around the world, Libby Larsen has established a permanent place for her works in the concert repertory.

Larsen’s flowing meditation on the ‘Veni creator’ tune was written as the Pentecost entry for a multi-composer anthology based on the liturgical year. It was given one of the highest rankings in a survey of pieces that most strongly moved listeners to prayer.

In Libby Larsens flowing meditation on the “Veni creator” tune, the Holy Spirit arrives with feather-delicacy in a dotted, downward-moving motive counterbalanced by an uprushing scale pattern and a gently pulsing chordal oscillation based on the opening notes of the tune itself.
