Description

Boellmann Organ Works Volume I: Organ Works published during his lifetime

Léon Boëllmann (1862–1897) studied at the École Niedermeyer and was Titular organist at Saint-Vincent-de-Paul in Paris.

His compositions follow in the tradition of Saint-Saëns, Franck, Fauré and Gigout, reflecting the elegant and extravagant style of the belle époque.

Volume I of this new Urtext complete performing edition contains the organ works of the first creative period (1882-1891) in the chronological order of their publication.  The short individual pieces were primarily written for liturgical use.  Of intermediate difficulty they could be performed for various occasions and are also useful in organ teaching.

A critical report and a catalogue of sources complete this edition.

– First complete scholarly-critical edition of Boëllmann’s music in four volumes

– Based on latest scholarly research and including previously unknown sources

– Detailed preface and facsimiles of previously unknown source material, critical report and catalogue of sources (Fr/Eng/Ger)
