L’Organiste – Organ Arrangement Volume 1 (Ped.)
Edited and published by Martin Böcker Every organist has heard of César Franck’s collection “L’Organiste” and perhaps even played one or two pieces from it. In practice, however, little attention is paid to this true treasure trove of romantic character pieces, which are ideal for church services. This is mainly because the works are primarily intended for the harmonium, with occasional notation shifted by an octave, and without a separate pedal. The Hamburg organ professor and artistic director of the Stade Organ Academy, Martin Böcker, has addressed this shortcoming and arranged all the pieces for a “normal” two-manual organ with pedal, so that they can now be used in a variety of ways in church services and also in organ lessons, effortlessly and without the need for any personal arrangements. An instrument à la Cavaillé-Coll is not required for the interpretation: the charming pieces unfold their Franck-specific charm on almost any type of organ! Contents: Three of the nine cycles, each with seven pieces, arranged by key.
