Description
Ferguson’s “In Nomine” is based upon the chant antiphon “Gloria Tibi Trinitas”. The work opens with a partial quote of an “In Nomine” by Henry Purcell (1659-1695) and concludes with another by John Bull (1543-1623), honoring those whose work was an inspiration. Ferguson’s use of the organ’s many tonal resources creates a work of considerable color and grandeur.
