Description
Hommage à Handel. Aria Variata in the old style on the theme “Lascia ch`io pianga” from “Rinaldo” by Handel (Ped.)
The sarabande aria “Lascia ch`io pianga” (“Let me lament to you”) is one of the best-known pieces in Handel’s operatic oeuvre – promoted not least by the successful film “Farinelli”. The melancholic and at the same time quietly sublime theme served Stefano Bertuletti as the basis for six different variations; once the theme is melodically varied, once it is formed into a dance, once it is turned to a minor key, and finally it forms the basis of a virtuoso final movement. An organ work in traditional musical language, excerpts of which enrich church services and, as a whole, concerts.
