Description

Thunderstorms and descriptions of nature in organ music Volume 08 (Ped.)

The natural phenomena of lightning, thunder, thunderstorms and storms have greatly fascinated composing and improvising organists from the late 18th century to the present day and inspired them to create extremely sonorous works. The seven compositions in this volume come from the genre’s heyday (between 1850 and 1930), with the focus of the edition being on works that are currently out of print and unjustly forgotten. A colorful organ is an advantage, but a two-manual instrument with swell is sufficient to perform all the works. Stylish material for an extraordinary organ evening, and – this much can be revealed – all the works end with a sonic happy ending.
