Description
Five Nocturnes (Ped.)
Edited and published by Richard Brasier
The Irishman John Field is one of the great, internationally known pianists of the early 19th century. The student of Clementi also emerged as an extremely successful composer: his 18 nocturnes are among the earliest one-movement romantic character pieces; they establish the genre of the same name, which was later further developed by Chopin. These are mostly quiet pieces with a song-like, expressive melody in the right hand and a broken chord accompaniment in the left hand. With this edition, the editor presents five nocturnes that are particularly suitable for organ arrangement. Whether in church services or concerts: these charming pieces of moderate difficulty are always able to shine when the dramaturgy calls for a “calm haven”.
