From the composer’s introduction: ‘These fanfares should be used as hymn introductions on festal occasions, or as Gospel fanfares. The fanfares are written in a variety of keys and time signatures and are not tied to a particular hymn tune. They should be sounded on the reeds with panache, zest and vitality.’
