Ketèlbey can be described as the best-known British composer of sophisticated instrumental entertainment music of the first half of the 20th century. His character studies – particularly of distant countries and customs – have been arranged countless times for a wide variety of ensembles. Hans Uwe Hielscher has now followed up with his transcriptions for the organ, enriching the repertoire of unusual organ music for special occasions with three “crackers” that no audience can resist.
