Description
His style, repeatedly described as extraordinarily colorful, combines both traditional and forward-looking tendencies. Opus 142 mirrors the entire range of his versatility: “Stimmen der Nacht” evokes Debussy’s musical universe, “Romantisch” seems to have been inspired by Johannes Brahms, and in “Valse mignonne” he conjures up – to quote Wolfgang Stockmeier – “a Blue Angel ambience, as a master of the grotesque and an ironic critic of the 1920s.”
