Three Preludes from Geography (Ped.)
Michel-Ostertun, Christiane (*1964) BU 2867 Three Preludes from Geography (Ped.) A highly original contribution to our section with “Cheerful Organ Music” can be found here: The lecturer Christiane Michel-Ostertun, who is known in particular for her improvisation schools, compositions and children’s organ concerts, presents three pieces in which a lot comes together: geographical references (The “New World”, Babylon, Pisa), enjoyable playing with intervals (ninths, thirds, seconds) and musical allusions to well-known compositions (e.g. the “Ninth” by Beethoven and Dvořák). With all the cross-references and borrowings – in the end, the sonic result is decisive! Here the composer is able to fully convince and quickly win over players and listeners of unusual organ performances for herself and her music. Contents: The Symphony from the Nones’ World s The Hanging Terces of Babylon s The Crooked Tone of Pisa.
