Description
The Well-Tempered Organ Volume 2 (Ped.)
The “Well-Tempered Clavier” is on everyone’s lips and can be found on every music stand. But who knows the counterpart? The present new edition unearths a treasure trove of German-Romantic organ music, of which it is difficult to believe that it had fallen into complete oblivion for more than 100 years. In 1862, the Celle court organist Heinrich Wilhelm Stolze ventured into this mammoth undertaking and created a collection with which he succeeded in creating a synthesis of counterpoint with recourse to Bach’s thematic elements and early Romantic sonority. A fund from which friends of organ romanticism will draw for a long time!
Contents: 12 preludes and fugues ascending from F sharp major to B minor.
