The Tchaikovsky Album
Tchaikovsky, Peter Ilyich (1840–1893) BU 1823 The Tchaikovsky Album (Ped.) Arranged by William Wolstenholme, published by Hans-Peter Bähr
Unfortunately, the organ received very little, if not no, consideration in the compositional work of many Romantics. It is all the more welcome that their contemporaries already had the desire to explore suitable organ works. The English organ Romantic William Wolstenholme selected six pieces from the Russian master’s piano works, which he arranged for a two-manual organ. Among the pieces is the famous “Chanson triste”. A welcome expansion of the organ repertoire, this time in an eastern direction.
