A volume with 42 choral preludes with newly recorded melodies is published here for the Gotteslob-Eigenteil of the Cologne Archdiocese. The special feature: all of the works come from composers of the archdiocese, so that the impressive volume represents a sounding documentation of Cologne church music. Klaus Wallrath, Winfried Bönig, Reiner Schuhenn and Dominik Susteck are names that are familiar to many and which – along with numerous other composers – guarantee a wide-ranging, exciting variety of styles. Since several of the melodies can also be found in the Eigenteils of other dioceses, this edition also represents an interesting addition to concert and liturgical organ playing far beyond the diocese’s borders.
