Description
When looking back at an eventful, not always straightforward life as a church musician, I had the idea to express my thanks musically for this. In my practice as an organist and choir director, I often had the opportunity to organize thanksgiving services. I liked to use the popular hymns “Now thank everyone and bring honor” and “Now thank everyone God”, which also served as a template for the present organ composition. While the melodic material of the first song is mainly processed in mostly small-scale polyphony, the chorale melody of the second as cantus firmus moves through different voices. The opening motif of “Now everyone thanks God” forms the end of the piece after three melodic increases. I got it,Hermann Schroeder , titled “Cantio duplex”. (Walter Gleissner)
