Description

Tchaikovsky’s Op. 39, also known as “Children’s Album” or “Album for the Young”, is a delightful and enchanting collection of piano compositions composed in 1878. This opus is a departure from Tchaikovsky’s grand symphonies and complex operas, as it was specifically crafted to be accessible to young and budding pianists. Comprising 24 short pieces, Op. 39 reflects Tchaikovsky’s ability to infuse emotion and storytelling into even the simplest of melodies. Each piece is like a musical vignette, capturing various moods and scenes that would resonate with both children and adults alike.

The music is transcribed for an organ with two manuals and pedal, making it available for church musicians with smaller instruments, and includes suggested registrations for a rich and colourful presentation – all in clear and modern notation.
