Description

Transcriptions for organ. Eight pieces from the vocal and instrumental works (Ped.) Arranged and published by Otto Depenheuer  (64 pages)

Widor often worked as an arranger of his own works, also with the intention of dedicating the beauty of some pieces not only to the chosen instrumentation. Encouraged by this, a look at his entire work revealed some smaller compositions, but also more extensive masterpieces that were suitable for organ arrangement. These were done so skillfully that one would think that they were other original organ works by Widor. With the exception of the last two, more extensive pieces, all are ideally suited to both church services and concerts. Whether solemn and pompous or dreamy cantabile: Widor always knows how to fascinate his audience!

Contents: Marche Américaine op. 31 – Ave Maria op. 24 – Allegro vivace D major – Scherzo op. 34 No. 3 Romance op. 34 No. 2 – Air en style ancien – Variations sur “Now come, the Heiden Heiland” from the “Sinfonia sacra” op. 81 – Salvum fac populum tuum op. 84.
