Description
Volume 06: Scherzos in Organ Music (Man. and Ped.)
Publisher No. BU 2200 The scherzo in its current form and function first entered instrumental music as a replacement for the minuet during the Viennese Classical period. In the 19th century, there was a significant stylistic expansion, but its light, playful, dance-like and generally cheerful character always remained the defining feature of the genre. This is also the case with the pieces in our carefully compiled volume, which is filled with 20 scherzos of international provenance from the 19th and 20th centuries that are hardly known today, all of which are easy to moderately difficult to play and all of which have the best sound effect on the organ.
Works by: Lefébure-Wely, Lepage, Willscher, Lemare, Buck, Tritant, Bucciali, Rihovsky, Rousseau, Archer, Jones, Rogers, Tournemire, R. Vierne, Claussmann, Lemaigre, Guilmant, van Durme and Czerniewski.
