Description
Bartók, Béla (1881–1945) Romanian Folk Dances. for organ solo (ped.) edited and published by Tobias Zuleger
Béla Bartók is one of the leading figures in 20th century music. His importance in the study of folk songs cannot be overestimated and his didactic works such as the “Microcosm” have accompanied generations of students. The extremely popular “Romanian Folk Dances”, written in 1915, are the fruit of his preoccupation with the “folk music” of his homeland. These dances have already been arranged in numerous ways and thanks to the exquisite transcription by Tobias Zuleger, this small collection can now also be played on the organ. The arranger has skilfully transferred the individual movements, some of which are pensive and finely chiseled and some of which are unbridled and powerful, to the organ. This small suite represents a welcome extension of the “dance” concert repertoire.
