Organ works (Ped.) Volume 30 in the series “Organ music from England and America” Edited by Richard Brasier
In our tried and tested series “Organ music from England and America” we present the 30th volume, a solo portrait of William Wolstenholme, who worked his way up from a provincial industrial town as a blind musician to become a respected London organist. The works of this Elgar student, who was nicknamed the “English César Franck” during his lifetime, reveal the experienced concert organist’s art of improvisation. The spectrum ranges from easy-to-play, song-like pieces to large-scale concert overtures of medium difficulty.
