Description

Songs without words (selection) (Ped.)

Arranged by Alexander Wilhelm Gottschalg (1827-1908), published by Andreas Rockstroh

Mendelssohn’s “Songs without words” are among the most beautiful early romantic piano pieces. The experienced Weimar organist and arranger Alexander Wilhelm Gottschalg recognized that many of these gems are also suitable for the organ and transcribed nine pieces for this instrument. He made the changes to the original musical text very carefully. The result is pieces that are suitable for the organ and easy to play, with the harmonious sound typical of Mendelssohn.
