Description

Little Organ Mass. Kyrie – Gloria – Credo – Sanctus – Agnus Dei (Ped.) Edited by Tobias Zuleger

Sample page A remarkable contribution to German organ music after 1945 is the “Little Organ Mass” by Fritz Lubrich Jr., composed in 1955 as an aftermath of a concert in St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna. His life and work lie between the poles of late Romanticism and the search for new forms of expression in the interwar and post-war period: Lubrich was a student of Reger and Straube and a teacher of Bialas and Zacher. The “Little Organ Mass” sets the Ordinary to music in an improvisational manner, partly freely rhapsodic, partly using Protestant chorales and Gregorian motifs. Diatonicism, archaic turns of phrase, chromaticism, lively passages and a harmonic core allow the musical interpretation of the mass texts to change in many colors. Of medium difficulty, suitable for church services and concerts.
