Description

In dulci jubilo (Ped.) 20 festive fantasies on Advent and Christmas songs for organ solo

Advent and Christmas are the “wedding times” of church music, for which new compositions are always desired and sought after. Organists in particular have a great need for appropriate literature due to the large number of church services and devotions, spiritual evening music and concerts during this time, and are always on the lookout for effective compositions that can be rehearsed in a reasonable amount of time. This is where the fantasies in this volume come in: They are particularly suitable as festive preludes and postludes to church services, which is why the majority of songs selected are those that are often sung at the beginning or end of the liturgy, and why all pieces are 2 to 5 pages long – with occasional suggestions for shortening. The level of difficulty does not exceed C level. The (neo-)romantic style of all fantasies meets the desire of many players and listeners to enjoy sonorous, harmonious music that “touches the heart” in the best sense of the word at Christmas.

Contents: Open the door – Wake up – O Savior, tear open the heavens – Daughter of Zion – A ship is coming, loaded – Announce to all in need – A rose has sprung up – Come, you shepherds – Angels sing in the fields – Praised be you, Jesus Christ – Now rejoice, you Christians – Hear the angels’ great joy, praise God, you Christians – Shout for joy, you heavens – In dulci jubilo – You people who were lost – O you happy one – From heaven high – Rejoice, earth and starry sky – Hear, it sings and rings with loud music.
