Description
Marian Organ Works of the Romantic Period (Man. and Ped.)
The theme of “Mary” has always challenged composers and often inspired vocal and instrumental masterpieces. It is obvious that the Romantic period in particular took on this genre, with organ composers naturally being strongly represented. The most beautiful works from the large international pool of relevant works were selected for this volume, with compositions with a choral reference and transcriptions making up only the smallest part. The majority of the works are romantic character pieces of a meditative nature that can be used in a variety of ways on appropriate occasions in liturgy and concerts. All of the pieces are easy to play, only a few reach the medium level of difficulty.
“The book contains largely unknown organ pieces with Marian titles, including some gems, largely meditative character pieces. The level of difficulty is usually manageable; all pieces are long enough for church services. A pleasant book with welcome repertoire extensions!
