Description
Frösöblomster (“Frösö flowers”) is a collection of piano miniatures composed by the Swedish composer Wilhelm Peterson-Berger (1867–1942). This enchanting musical work, published as a three-book series in 1896, 1900 and 1914, is a reflection of the composer’s deep connection to the natural beauty and folklore of the Swedish region of Jämtland, particularly the island of Frösön in Lake Storsjön. Through these delicate and evocative pieces, Peterson-Berger captures the essence of the landscape, traditions, and culture of this picturesque corner of Sweden. As you listen to Frösöblomster, you are transported to a world where lush meadows, tranquil lakes, and ancient legends come to life through music. Peterson-Berger’s ability to infuse his compositions with the spirit of the Swedish countryside is truly remarkable.
Concert organist Kiyo Watanabe has selected 12 of the most popular pieces from Frösöblomster, each with its unique character and charm, that transcribes particularly well to the organ. Naturally, standout pieces and all-time favorites such as Sommarsång, Gratulation, Vid Frösö kyrka and Intåg i Sommarhagen are included! The music is transcribed for an organ with two manuals and pedal, making it available for church musicians with smaller instruments, and includes suggested registrations for a rich and colourful presentation – all in clear and modern notation.
